Elias Pettersson now the best in the entire NHL(!) – the Swede alone at the top after the historic giant success last night

Elias Pettersson continues to dominate in the NHL.
The Swede is now alone(!) first in the scoring league – when his Vancouver Canucks also made history.

The Vancouver Canucks had a tumultuous year last year, with a fired coach and missing the playoffs. There is no doubt that they have one of the league’s most exciting squads, and there were high hopes that they would at least look better this season. But the start to the season has been better than anyone could have ever dreamed of.

Despite the crisis last year, Elias Pettersson managed to beat a personal scoring record, when he scored over 100 points for the first time in his career. Elias Pettersson has brought his form into this season, and his start to this year’s NHL edition has been somewhat sensational. Just like the entire Vancouver Canucks have been.

Vancouver won another game against the struggling Edmonton Oilers – led by the world’s best player Connor McDavid – last night, and with it, the Canucks solidified their third place in the entire NHL. In fact, with their nine wins in the opening games of the season, the Canucks have never, in the history of the organization, started a season better. And Elias Pettersson is also on his way to new records.

Alone at the top

The Swede was noted for a passing point in the night’s 6-2 victory against the Oilers, and with that, Pettersson is now alone in the NHL’s scoring leaderboard. He has long been fighting at the top with New Jersey Devils Jack Hughes, who is now injured. Pettersson has been noted for a senseless 21 points in twelve games played.

Another who is well on his way to making history in the NHL right now is Elias Pettersson’s teammate Quinn Hughes. He scored a full four points last night, and has thus scored 20 points in twelve games – as a back. In NHL history, only two defensemen have reached 20 points faster in a season opener than Quinn Hughes. In other words, it looks to be a fun winter for the Canucks – and for Elias Pettersson, who is looking to become the fourth Swede (after Peter Forsberg and the Sedin brothers) to win the scoring league in the world’s best league.
