Elias Pettersson is praised to the skies after the move last night – what he does when he falls to the ice makes the entire sports world cheer

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Elias Pettersson went down to the ice – and the referee immediately raised his arm.
Then the Swede did something that causes the entire sports world to applaud.

Elias Pettersson has been the only exclamation mark in a messy, underachieving, crisis-ridden and downright weak Vancouver Canucks this season. The team went into this season with high expectations, with an exciting squad, but it was a total pancake.

Great success

The Vancouver Canucks have had a crisis all winter and also had a really messy time in leading positions in the booth. They have been forced into a coaching change, and have finally had some effect on it, but it is far too late and the Canucks have absolutely nothing to do with any playoffs now that spring is approaching. But Elias Pettersson still has the east.

The Swede is involved in several discussions about individual awards for his efforts during the year, and in the last five games – in which the Canucks won all – he has accounted for seven points. In total, Pettersson has scored an unparalleled 83(!) points in 64 games, and that’s enough for tenth place in the entire NHL’s scoring. In the night’s match against the Dallas Stars, there was another assist for the Swede – but he is also being praised for something completely different.

Praised for the move

In one situation during the match, Elias Pettersson made a move, and at the same time received an opponent’s stick on his skates. Pettersson lost his balance, went down on his knees against the ice, but stood up immediately. At the same time, the referee raised his arm in the air to signal for a pending expulsion, but Pettersson did not agree. Instead, he turned to the referee, while still in possession of the puck, and waved his arm.

Elias Pettersson was not heard for his effort, however, and the referee still chose to send Stars forward Max Domi to the penalty box. But in North America, Elias Pettersson is now praised to the skies for his honest, and incredibly sportsmanlike, attempt to make his opponent stay on the ice. It really is nothing but respect!
