Elias Pettersson has failed to deliver for the Vancouver Canucks this year and he has been cut by the team’s Swedish general manager Patrik Allvin.
Now he is rumored to be away from the club.
“I’ve heard about it, but it’s like nothing I can control,” says Pettersson to Sportsnet.
He is one of the team’s biggest stars and actually the Swede who earns the most in the entire NHL. Despite that, things are tough for Elias Pettersson26, right now. He’s missed the last four games with an upper-body injury, but before that, he struggled with point production.
The Swede signed a new super contract last season with his Vancouver Canucks, for whom he played for seven years. But this season, he has only scored 28 points in 34 games, which is not good enough to be the team’s leading player.
“Life will only get tougher. He hasn’t accomplished anything yet. I don’t think he’s been aware of how tough this is,” even Vancouver’s Swedish general manager said Patrick Allvin recently.

Recently, rumors have started to abound that Pettersson might be traded away. The fact that he was cut by his own general manager is of course not a good sign. There are also rumors that Elias Pettersson ended up in conflict with the star JT Miller.
Now Elias Pettersson is forced to defend himself after the recent lack of form and rumours.
– I know I can do better, I’m the first to admit that, and I don’t think it will get any easier either. At the end of the day, I have expectations from the club and it’s quite clear that I didn’t meet them. But I mean, it doesn’t matter what people say, I know what I can do and I’m focused on doing it, he told Sportsnet.

The Swede also says that he knows about the three rumours. But it’s nothing that he cares about.
– I’ve heard about it, but it’s like nothing I can control. I try not to think about it. I’m sure it will stop if we play better and we win, he says.
