The start of the season has been disastrous.
But last night the Vancouver Canucks finally got to celebrate.
And thank Elias Pettersson for that.
The Swede became a great hero with a real class goal.
There were hopes for the Vancouver Canucks heading into this season. They have a young and exciting team, and in the spring, after changing coaches, they looked like they were playing really good hockey, and the points plummeted.
Finally got to win
But the start to the new season has been nothing short of disastrous. The team became the first in NHL history to lose a two-goal lead in the opening three games of a season, and before tonight’s game against the Seattle Kraken, the Canucks had lost seven of seven games.
Had the Canucks lost one more game, they would have aspired to the spot as the season opener to an NHL season ever, but they have had some joys after all. Above all, Elias Pettersson. Despite the Canucks having it so hard, Elias Pettersson had been recorded for three goals and a total of seven points. And when the Canucks finally got a win last night, against the Seattle Kraken, it was thanks to the Swede.

Class goal of EP
Yes, it took eight games before the Canucks won, but it was a long way off. Elias Pettersson had an assist on the Canucks’ 3-2 goal in the second period, but when the Kraken equalized, many believed in another Vancouver collapse. But Pettersson wanted something else. At the beginning of the third period, Pettersson stayed in front, and when the puck ended up in front of him, he volleyed, and the puck went into the net.
– I looked for the goal and when I got the chance I just tried to get it towards the goal, and it went in. I don’t usually practice that, but it’s kind of like controlling the puck, and I practice that sometimes, he says afterwards.
A real class goal by the Swede, which would prove to be very important. The Canucks ended up winning 5-4, thus breaking their incredible streak of nightmares, and can now, hopefully, start to look up to higher positions in the Pacific Division. And after the win, Pettersson is highly praised.
“He is absolutely brilliant,” writes journalist Thomas Drance.
