Elias Lindholm was on a plane from Mexico when he got the news that he was being flown from Calgary to Vancouver.
– I got some connection on the phone in the middle of the air and saw that I had a hell of a lot of messages and text messages. Then I understood what had happened, says the ice hockey forward to Aftonbladet.
– It was a bit shocking and crazy, but I’m coming to a great team and I’m hooked.

29 year old Elias Lindholm was in his sixth season in a Calgary jersey, but says he’s known since the New Year that it was probably going to be a stretch. But he had no idea that it would be to the top team Vancouver, which has racked up the most points in this year’s NHL.
– I’ve had great years in Calgary and it’s sad to leave the guys, but that’s how it is in this business. Now I feel very lucky to be joining a really great team with good coaches and good players in every position.
This weekend, Lindholm will participate in the NHL’s all-star weekend in Toronto for the first time. There he is accompanied, among other things, by his new teammate Elias Pettersson.
Only on Tuesday can it be time to debut with Vancouver, which then begins a long road trip away against Carolina – the team where Lindholm began his NHL career in 2014.
