Elian Lehto achieved by far his best ranking in the Alpine Skiing World Cup.
Alpine skier Elian Lehto was responsible for the big Finnish surprise in the Kitzbühel downhill. The Finnish calculator was handsomely 11th in the race.
The Finnish count initially crossed the finish line in tenth place. The race was suspended for a long time, after which there were still two runners left. About them Arnaud Boisset passed the Finn and thus Lehto’s final ranking is 11th.
This is by far the best ranking of the 23-year-old Lehto in the Alpine Skiing World Cup. The previous best place was 20th, which he surpassed at the weekend.
Urheilu’s commentator Kalle Palander was possessed during Lehto’s decline.
– Let it come, let it come! Will be fine.
When Lehto crossed the finish line in tenth place, Palander lit up even more.
– Wow! What is happening here! An absolutely shocking bet from Elian Lehto.
This is Finland’s best ranking in men’s downhill at the World Cup level. Riitta Ollikka has been tenth in women’s downhill in 1973.
The race was won by France Cyprien Sarrazin before Italy Florian Schieder as well as a superstar, Switzerland Marco Odermatti. Lehto was 1.15 seconds behind the winner.
Updated 15:51: Corrected that Lehto was 11th, not tenth.
