Swiss accountant Gino Caviezel fell seriously in the alpine skiing super giant slalom race in Bormio, Italy.

Caviezel was taken by helicopter to the hospital and the race was suspended for a long time. Caviezel was the first count of the race, but his count ended after about 50 seconds.

Caviezel hit the gate and fell before jumping. He slid down the steep slope for a long way and was left lying on the ground, beckoning for help.

Caviezel is not the first player to be seriously injured in Bormio. The Frenchman who fell during the diving exercises on Friday Cyprien Sarrazin suffered a brain hemorrhage and underwent surgery later Saturday. According to the French Ski Federation, the surgery went well.

The Norwegian took the first place in Super-g Fredrik Möller with a difference of two tenths to the Austrian to Vincent Kriechmayr. Places 3–6 went to Switzerland after winning Saturday’s diving competition Alexis Monney under.

Lehto was 27th in the final results, losing to Möller by 2.42 seconds.

The women’s slalom competition in Semmering, Austria was won by a Croatian Zrinka Ljutic with a clear margin of 1.75 seconds ahead of Germany Lena Dürrä and Austria Katharina Liensberger. There were no Finnish skiers in the competition.
