Elfsborg have tightened their grip on the gold spot and can decide the whole thing this Sunday depending on how rival Malmö performs against Häcken at Hisingen.
– We are positive and have everything in our own hands, we are happy and there is a damn good feeling in the team, says Simon Hedlund to SVT Sport.
Hedlund returned home to Elfsborg in mid-August this year.
– I came home because I wanted to play in Elfsborg, then the fact that they were at the top when I arrived was only positive, he says and looks ahead to Sunday’s battle against Degerfors.
– The focus is on Degerfors, we cannot control the second match. We have been good at taking one game at a time and it is three points that are the most important now against Degerfors.
“Can be difficult”
When you go out on Sunday at 5:30 p.m., will you have no idea how Häcken-Malmö ended?
– I won’t check anyway. The focus is to win our match. If it was like that we won after our match, it would have been magical. If you float away in your thoughts, it can be difficult.
The last time Elfsborg became Swedish champions, a certain Hedlund was involved. Then as a 19-year-old.
– If we had gone all the way, it would have been worryingly big for Elfsborg and Borås. It means a lot to the city and football here. The public support we have had both at home and away is incredible. Putting football Borås on the map is important, concludes the 30-year-old.
