Electronic Arts is working on the biggest project in its history

Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson confirms that the company is working on the largest pipeline of video games, live services and content in its history.

EA’s last quarter financial report shed more light on the company’s future plans. With the demand for digital games increasing during the COVID-19 era, EA has focused more on online experiences with billions of dollars of microtransactions. The company now aims to treat EA’s biggest brands as a platform with multiple business models around a specific title.

The idea is to have EA treat its biggest brands as an ecosystem of products, services, and experiences. EA is still continuing its plans to release only single-player games with strong storylines.

EA is working on a huge roster of games to implement this plan, including live services like Apex and FIFA, community-supported creativity like The Sims and Skate, and story-driven games like Dragon Age.

Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson made statements

Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson made the statement on the EA Q1 FY24 earnings call. “Our team is building the strongest gaming pipeline in history to do more extraordinary things for our people, our players and our communities. Over the next few years we will deliver many experiences that grow and deepen the fan base of our legendary IPs,” said Andrew Wilson.

Wilson also briefly talked about re-imagining The Sims 5 and Battlefield. This probably means a new game mode released simultaneously on consoles, PC and mobile platforms. In addition, the mobile version of Apex Legends developed by Respawn and possibly another title is also being worked on.

Wilson added, “We’re working on a new creativity-transforming experience for The Sims, an action-adventure Iron Man game set in a huge sprawling universe, a reimagining of Battlefield as a truly connected ecosystem, and the Apex Legends universe across platforms, geographies, and game modes. “The Black Panther project, which we announced recently, will take place in a huge explorable universe.”
