In electricity areas 3 and 4, i.e. southern and central Sweden, the price lands at 87 öre per kilowatt hour.
The day before Christmas Eve, the price in both areas was SEK 1.86 per kilowatt hour.
In electricity areas 1 and 2, in northern Sweden, the price will be 76 öre/kWh. Before the Christmas weekend, it was just under 88 öre.
On top of the market price of electricity, the consumer also has to pay the electricity company’s surcharge, electricity tax, VAT and grid charge.
Overall, December could be the most expensive electricity month to date for households and businesses. It will be felt when the bills come in in the weeks after the New Year.
For short periods, the electricity price in southern Sweden during December has been over SEK 7 per kilowatt hour, but the average price in the country for December is approximately SEK 3 per kilowatt hour – slightly above in the south and slightly below in the north.
