As ShimanoBosch or Bafang, Yamaha is one of the main suppliers of motors for the e-bike market. The Japanese manufacturer has just announced a new model, the PW-S2, which should mainly equip urban or mid-range electric bikes. It succeeds the PW ST which dates from 2018, in other words an eternity on the VAE market.

According to Yamaha, the PW S2 is 20% more compact and 16% lighter than its predecessor with a weight of 2.85 kg. His power is 250 watts and it delivers a torque of 75 Nm with four possible assistance modes.

Yamaha is also introducing a new control screen called Display B. With a diagonal of 3 inches, it displays essential information in monochrome and is controlled using a five-button module installed next to the left handlebar grip. . The advantage of Display B is that it is removable, a practical thing to prevent theft. In addition, it has a micro-USB port to be able to charge a phone mobile.

The Yamaha PW S2 being intended for the European market, it will be produced on the Old Continent. And the good news is that it is in France that this electric motor will be manufactured, more precisely in Saint-Quentin (Aisne). The first ones electric bikes equipped with this new Yamaha engine should appear in 2023.
