Election officials in Georgia confirm the election result, even though only a tenth of the votes were verified | News in brief

Georgia’s election authorities say that the partial revision count will not change the election result, which the country’s opposition and several Western countries have accused of fraud.

According to the Central Election Commission of Georgia, the verification count confirms that the pro-Russian ruling party Georgian Dream won the election.

According to the election authorities, the votes were checked in a little more than 12 percent of the polling stations, which corresponds to about 14 percent of the votes cast.

– The amendment does not significantly change the previously announced election results, the final results changed only slightly in about a tenth of the polling places, the Central Election Board says.

The opposition parties have refused to join the new parliament. They demand new elections, which would be supervised by the actors of the international community.
