US President Joe Biden called and congratulated Benjamin Netanyahu, who won the early general elections held on November 1 in Israel. White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement that Biden reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral partnership between the United States and Israel and underlined the unwavering support of the United States for Israel’s security. Jean-Pierre also stated that they will continue to closely monitor Netanyahu’s formation of a government composed of far-right parties.

Making a statement on his social media account regarding his meeting with Biden, Netanyahu said, “President Biden called me to congratulate him on the election victory and said that the alliance between Israel and the United States is stronger than ever. I thanked President Biden for his personal friendship spanning 40 years between us and his commitment to the state of Israel. “I said it was up to us to make new peace agreements and also deal with the Iranian threat,” he said.
In the general elections held for the 5th time in the last 4 years following the dissolution of the Israeli parliament, the right-wing bloc led by Netanyahu won 64 seats in the 120-seat parliament, while the “Coalition for Change” led by Prime Minister Yair Lapid won 51 seats. Netanyahu has not yet been formally appointed by Israeli President Isaac Herzog to form the government, although he has secured a sufficient majority to form the government. (UAV)
