Elderly woman was suffocated to death home care worker

At the beginning of November last year, a woman in her 90s was found dead in her home. The woman was deemed to have died of natural causes.

After a few weeks, the police received a tip, with information that the woman had been murdered by her carer in the home service.

Filmed parts of the event

The suspected perpetrator is said to have sent a video of parts of the sequence of events to the tipster, when they used to play online games together.

– It is that film that will be the start of the investigation. It has not been shared on the gaming platform, but sent between users, say police investigators Fredrik Brax to Today’s news.

The suspected perpetrator, who is a man in his 50s, worked at the time in home care in Strömstad municipality.

In early December, the man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

– I dare not answer how long he was her carer, but it is through the service that he met the woman, says Fredrik Brax to Today’s news.

The man no longer works in home care, but was only temporarily employed.

Wrapped plastic film around the woman’s head

According to the indictment, the man allegedly wrapped plastic film around the woman’s head and face so that she suffocated to death.

According to Fredrik Brax, the suspect must have admitted that he caused the woman’s death and filmed parts of the process. However, he denies murder.

The murdered woman had time to be cremated before suspicions of murder arose, which complicates the investigation, but according to Fredrik Brax, the state of evidence should still be good.
