An elderly man died on Thursday in connection with a drowning accident at Austre beach in southern Gotland, Helagotland reports.
– I can confirm that it is an elderly person who has died in connection with a drowning accident, says Anders Brynolfsson at the police to the newspaper.
According to the rescue service, the man was unconscious when personnel arrived at the scene. Visitors at the beach had then started efforts on their own to save the man’s life.
The alarm about the drowning came in at 3 p.m.
