Elden Ring: The best Blood Build lets you melt bosses in seconds

Blood builds have always been considered a powerful option for destroying bosses in Elden Ring in seconds. They eat through life bars and deal massive damage. Find out what the best blood build currently looks like and which items and attributes you need here.

Update from June 21, 2024: We have completely revised the Blood Build and listed the best one for you, including new items and necessary attributes.

For a Blood Build to be really good, various factors come into play: Do you have enough buffs? Which weapons do you use? Does the equipment harmonize with the build you have created? Many questions that can be overwhelming at first, but we have sat down for you and found out what the best Blood Build needs to have in order to be really strong.

In our research, we came across a build that is so powerful that you can even effortlessly mash bosses in the new Elden Ring DLC. You can find out what you need for this in detail here. If you want to jump to the individual parts of our guide, you can use our directory for this.

These attributes are what you need for the Blood Build in Elden Ring

Why is this late-game build so strong? This build focuses primarily on strength because we use a weapon combination that works perfectly with the bleeding status effect. This is the dual blade weapon type.

Points are also put into Faith and Arcane Energy so that the bleeding is activated faster and we can buff our heroes with invocations. This way we achieve a deadly combination, but that’s not all.

What is Bleeding Damage and Why is it so Good?

Weapons like Bloody Streams cause passive blood loss with each attack. If you hit an enemy often enough in a certain period of time, the enemy will immediately suffer massive bleeding damage. You can tell when the enemy has been successfully bleeded not only by the fact that the enemy suddenly loses a large part of their health bar, but also by a large blood splatter.

Exactly how many hits you need and how long this time span is depends on the resistances of the specific enemy. However, most enemies in the game, even the biggest and hardest bosses, can take bleeding damage.

There are also late-game items that increase the damage to the extreme. The build uses the strongest weapons of the dual blades as well as talismans and armor that allow you to buff yourself further with each instance of bleeding damage.

So this build relies on a storm of insanely fast attacks and a constant back and forth between the powerful bleeding damage and the resulting DPS boosts.

What is the best way to level up for this build? As with our overall best build, we recommend the necessary attribute points to get the most out of your build. Here, too, we pay attention to the “soft caps” so that you don’t level any value further than it’s worth.

Please note that this is a level 150 build. You can then re-skill your attributes to suit your needs if you want to try out the build.

Attributes for a hero at level 150 (Vagabond)
  • If you want to play the best class, you should choose the vagabond. Due to his even distribution of attributes, he has the best prerequisites for being able to build any build. We will now explain to you why our points were distributed in this way.
  • Power: 50
  • The soft cap is 40. We have therefore agreed on 50, as we have to endure more in the Blood Build due to the risky attacks.
  • Spirit: 15
  • Spirit is only important for this build to cast our miracles and war ashes.
  • Condition: 25
  • The soft cap for equipment loads is 25. We don’t want to go into battle naked, and with this amount we can equip well-balanced armor and still wield weapons.
  • Strength: 70
  • With 70 points you are above the second soft cap (55 points) and can deal a little more damage. Important for wielding weapons that have a high strength scaling.
  • Skill: 15 (20 points through the talisman “Millicent’s Prosthesis”)
  • Dexterity is 15 points to wield the Gargoyle double blade.
  • Wisdom: 9
  • Not relevant for the build.
  • Faith: 25
  • With 25 points in Faith you can use two important invocations that buff you: Flame, give me strength! and Golden Oath. Both are worth it for our build to be able to deal even more damage.
  • Arcane Energy: 20
  • We have Arcane Energy at 20 points to reach the first soft cap and trigger bleeding faster.
  • If you want to play PvP in the long term, you should try not to let your character go above level 150. In the community, the meta level has settled at 125 – 150.

Because in PvP you only find players who are of a similar level to you, you will hardly be able to find opponents if your level is too high. Because you have to distribute all the “purchased” levels again when you reskill, you cannot reduce this investment again – the only solution here is a completely new character.

This equipment makes the Blood Build really powerful

What equipment does the build use? To make the build even stronger, you need to wear the following weapons, talismans and armor:

  • Weapon right 1: Gargoyle Dual Blade +25
  • Affinity: Bloody
  • War Ashes: Rockblade
  • Weapon left 1: Gargoyle Dual Blade +25
  • Affinity: Bloody
  • War Ashes: Rockblade
  • Weapon left 2: Finger seal (for invocations)
  • Armor for head: White mask
  • Armor for chest: Black bird of prey feathers
  • Talisman 1: Claw Talisman
  • Talisman 2: Rotting Winged Sword Insignia
  • Talisman 3: Rejoicing of Blood
  • Talisman 4: Millicent’s prosthesis
  • We will now go into detail about our choice of weapons and equipment and explain why we chose them.

    Overview of all weapons

What weapons do I need? In a Blood build, you would expect to see either daggers, scimitars, or katanas, but dual blades are unusual. That’s understandable, but we use them for this build for a good reason: the leap attack.

If you have two double blades in your hand, you can land up to 6 hits with the light jump attack – if you have practiced the attack. This is ideal for a Blood Build, as your status effect, in this case “bleeding”, is activated faster the more often you land hits.

The Gargoyle Dual Blades can be found at the Gargoyle Boss in the Aqueduct of Siofra

To maximize our damage, we chose the Gargoyle Dual Blades. They have the highest damage when equipped with a bloody affinity and additionally decorated with the War Ash: Rock Blade.

The War Ash is essential here as it increases your damage by 15% and damages your opponent’s stance by 10%. It is important that both of your weapons have the same War Ashes and affinities.

Locations of weapons and war ashes:

  • Gargoyle Double Blade
  • Location: In the aqueduct of Siofra. Defeat the two gargoyles and receive the weapon after the fight
  • War Ash: Rock Blade
  • Location: At a scarab in Caelid, west of the grace “Impassable Great Bridge”
  • Overview of all talismans

Which talismans do I need? This Blood build has a special tactic of attacking. To benefit from this, we have selected the following talismans:

You need these talismans for the Blood Build
  • Claw Talisman
  • Effect: Increases the damage of your jump attacks by 15%.
  • Location: You can find it on the roofs of Stormveil Castle. Use the grace “Wall Tower” and jump northwest onto the roof far away. Now try to find your way up until you find a ladder. You will find the talisman on a corpse at the highest point of the tower.
  • Rotting Winged Sword Insignia
  • Effect: Significantly increases the power of your attack series. Has three levels that increase the damage of your attacks by 6%, 8% and 13% depending on the intensity.
  • Location: You get this after you help Millicent fight her sisters.
  • Rejoicing of Blood
  • Effect: Increases your damage by 20% for 20 seconds when someone near you has suffered blood loss.
  • Location: You can find it in the underground Preserve of Shame under Leyndell. To do so, defeat the enemy “Esgar, Priest of Blood”.
  • Millicent’s prosthesis
  • Effect: Increases your skill by 5 points. Increases the power of your attack series. Has three levels that increase the damage of your attacks by 4%, 6% and 11% depending on the intensity.
  • Location: Defeat Millicent during her quest after obtaining the Golden Prosthesis
  • Why these talismans? This Blood Build is all about fast attacks and bleeding. Since we attack while jumping, the claw talisman is perfect. With the sword insignia and the prosthesis, we increase our damage through the series of attacks that we generate with our six hits of the jump attack.

The Blood Rejoicing is there to give us a big damage buff when our opponent starts bleeding. That’s already a lot of buffs just from our talismans, but with our armor we can go one step further.

    Overview of all armor

What armor do I need? To further increase our damage, there are two pieces of armor that are perfect:

  • White mask
  • Effect: Increases your damage by 10% for 20 seconds when someone near you has suffered blood loss.
  • Location: Defeat one of the Field Surgeons stalking you as intruders near Moghwyn Palace.
  • Black bird of prey feathers
  • Effect: Increases the damage of your jump attacks by 10%.
  • Location: You can find it southeast of Mt. Gelmir in the Sage’s Cave behind a wall of illusions.
  • Why these armors? Both items fit perfectly into the synergies of the talismans and the jump attack playstyle and ensure that your damage is further increased.

Important items for optimizing the Blood Build

What else can I use? To increase the damage even further, it is a good idea to consume various buffs and items to become even stronger. We recommend the following:

  • Invocation: Golden Oath
  • Invocation: Flame, give me strength!
  • Bottle of Miraculous Medicine
  • Strength Knot Crystal Tear
  • Cracked Thorn Tear
  • Cooked crab
  • Blood-boiling aromatic
  • Now we will briefly explain how to play the build.

How to play the Blood Build correctly

What do i have to do? Before each fight, you first buff yourself with both of your invocations. After you have buffed yourself, drink a bottle of heaven’s tears and take your left double blade in both hands.

Now you buff this weapon with your Rock Blade talent. Now you take both weapons in each hand and buff your right double blade with Rock Blade. Last but not least, you can consume your items such as Blood Boiling Aromat, the Cooked Crab or the Bottle of Miraculous Medicine.

Enter the battle and now try to always use a light jump attack when you attack.

Once you have reached the first blood loss, your damage figures will reach 10,000 points – and more. It is then only a matter of time before the boss or enemy is turned into a red puddle. However, pay attention to your stamina when attacking, otherwise you will not be able to dodge if the worst happens.

What do I do against bosses that are immune to bleeding? The only weakness of the build is the fact that you cannot induce bleeding against enemies that do not have flesh. For this reason, you should swap out your “Blood of Jubilation” talisman and replace it with the “Ritual Sword Talisman”. This way you will at least get more damage without the bleeding effect.

That was all the important information about the build. Do you also like to play with bleeding or do you prefer to use other affinities like poison?
