Elden Ring’s sequel, Nightreign, will offer players three-way co-op or single-player options, but will not allow duos.
Announced at The Game Awards Elden Ring: Nightreignwill allow multiple players to fight together against bosses in co-op mode. The game’s director, Junya Ishizaki, announced that Elden Ring Nightreign can be played both in single-player and three-player co-op, but will not offer a two-player option.
Enemy Health Pool Will Be Scaled According to the Number of Players
“The game is designed to be played as a team of three, but it can also be played as a single player,” Ishizaki told IGN. Emphasizing that there will be no two-player option, Ishizaki also confirmed that the life pool of the enemies will be scaled according to the number of players.
Ishizaki explained his reasons for focusing on three-player co-op: “We wanted to preserve the sense of accomplishment and joy of fighting a boss together or conquering a map together, but recreating it in a whole new way. Focusing on a three-player co-op experience means “We thought it would bring with it a whole new sense of accomplishment.”
A network test for Elden Ring: Nightreign will be held in February. Last summer, Miyazaki said there was outside interest in making an adaptation of Elden Ring, possibly a movie. PlayStation manufacturer Sony is in talks to purchase From Software’s parent company, Kadokawa Corporation.
