Ekdal’s Burnley to the Premier League
It wasn’t that long ago that Hjalmar Ekdal played in the Allsvenskan. Now the centre-back gets to play in perhaps the world’s best football league.
Burnley are set for a return to the Premier League after Friday’s 2-1 win over Middlesbrough in the Championship.
Burnley took an early lead through Ashley Barnes but Middlesbrough equalized straight away at the start of the second half. After that, the game hung in the balance, but in the 66th minute Connor Roberts stepped up to score the winning goal that sealed promotion for Vincent Kompany’s men. Hjalmar Ekdal himself sat on the bench the whole match.
