Participants of all abilities are welcome, with walkers collecting pledges beforehand. This year’s event aims to raise $140,000, with all money staying in Chatham-Kent.

“Hike for Hospice is a wonderful way for people to remember and honor their loved ones in a thoughtful and practical way,” event co-chair Ginny Hawken said in a release.

“It’s amazing to see the many families that have made (the) hike an annual tradition and come out to support hospice year after year.”

Registration is free and participants can purchase a commemorative T-shirt, tie-dye sunglasses or keepsake memorial signs personalized with the name and picture of a passed loved one.
