Eight Ukrainian civilians killed in Russian attacks

Eight civilians have been killed in Russian attacks in various parts of Ukraine during Friday, writes AFP. Among other things, two were killed in Kharkiv, states the region’s governor Oleg Synegubov. Rescue workers have also found a dead person after an attack earlier this week.

In the Sumy region, two people are said to have been killed on Friday and in Donetsk one person.

At the same time, there is information that Ukrainian forces have retaken nearly two square kilometers of land in the Kharkiv region, AP reports.

The area was previously controlled by a Russian battalion, according to a statement from a Ukrainian brigade.

Russia launched a major offensive in the region of northeastern Ukraine last spring. Initially, Russian forces took large areas of land, but the offensive later stalled.
