Eight new cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in the past week.
Thus, 85 people in Sweden have been found to be infected – the majority of them in the Stockholm area.
All reported cases of monkeypox in Sweden have so far affected people in the group of men who have sex with men. But the virus is believed to be equally contagious between all people – regardless of sexual orientation.
Vaccination must be offered
In both Skåne and Stockholm, vaccinations will start this week. Other regions will be able to place an order and have single doses delivered as needed.
