19-year-old Eevi-Inkeri Tossavainen won the World Youth Championship gold in Canada. Last weekend, he beat many national team skiers at the Tampere SC together with Elsa Torvinen.
Eevi-Inkeri Tossavainen has won gold at the Under-20 Cross Country World Championships in Whistler, Canada.
19-year-old Tossavainen beat Norway in a traditional skiing competition Whereby Grosberghaugen Andreassen’s and Sweden by Lisa Eriksson. Tossavainen narrowly won, with a margin of 0.14 seconds.
Tossavainen described his sprint day as evenly strong. He used the same tactics in every ski.
– From the top of the second climb to the finish, you had to be able to ski hard, because that’s where the differences pretty much came. I am satisfied with that, that I was able to maintain the same level throughout the day and even increase my pace a little, Tossavainen was happy in an interview with the Ski Federation.
– I am really satisfied with the victory and happy about it. A big thank you to Huolto, they did a really good job, Tossavainen continued.
Tossavainen also wanted to congratulate in his interview Eero Rantalaa, who achieved World Championship bronze in the under-20 age group. Rantala finished third in a tight race, while Sweden Anton Grahn and Elias Danielsson took the first two places.
– We also succeeded well as a team. I’m really happy for Eero that he did so well, Tossavainen stated.
Tossavainen is satisfied that he was able to control his own events and ski in the top spot. He described that the execution was strong from the beginning all the way to the final.
– The goal for the competition was definitely a medal and winning was the main thing in mind. I wanted to believe that it was completely possible to take.
Tossavainen, who represents Ylöjärvi Ryhti at the club level, already stood out last weekend in Tampere, when he won together Elsa Torvinen with SM silver in the pair relay. The duo defeated many national team skiers at the time. At the end, Tossavainen left, for example Anne Kyllönen and Jasmi to Joensuu behind.
Like Tossavainen, Torvinen participated in the World Championships. He reached 15th place in the sprint.
