Eero Hirvone’s best finish in the World Cup in three years – the coach explains the golden meaning of the result

Eero Hirvones best finish in the World Cup in three

Eero Hirvonen was fifth in the Klingenthal World Cup in the joint start race.

Eero Hirvonen was fifth in Klingenthal’s first race in the Combined World Cup on Sunday.

The result is Hirvone’s best in the World Cup in three years in individual competitions. The last time Hirvonen reached the top five was three years ago also in Klingenthalis.

The competition format changed on Saturday due to weather conditions. The hill was not contested at all. The skiing section was held as a mass start, and then the hill section early on Sunday.

Hirvinen’s personal trainer and Urheilu’s expert Petter Kukko the result warmed.

– The winner of the award is getting closer competition by competition. In the mass start at Otepää, Eero was seventh, now fifth, Kukkonen told Urheilustudio.

Hirvonen was seventh in Klingenthal’s combined start skiing. The ranking on the hill improved a little.

– This jump goes into the better third and was a very good competition jump, says Kukkonen.

Kukkonen highlighted the effect of the mental side brought by a good investment.

– Even though there are years of success and the ability is known, the feeling of competence and self-confidence quickly disappears, Kukkonen states.

The best season of Hirvinen’s career so far has been 2017–2018, when he grabbed five podium places in the World Cup. The season before that saw the first podium finish. Since then, Hirvosen has had years tinged with difficulties.

Hirvonen now flashed from the beginning of the season already on the summer GP tour, when he won one race and was third in the other. Kukkonen reminds us that the winter World Cup is, however, a different matter.

– Self-confidence has to be built piece by piece. These are competitions worth their weight in gold. Hopefully the old Eero will emerge and the eye of the Tiger will start to appear there, Kukkonen stated.

The competition was won by Austria Johannes Lamparter. Ilkka Herolan the performance on the hill was poor. Herola was 18th in the final results.

Remember the Finns Jesse Pääkkönen 42nd, Otto Niittykoski 45’s and Walteri Karhumaa 50’s

Another World Cup competition will be held in Klingenthal on Sunday. Mäkiosuu is currently running on TV1 and Areena. The skiing part will be broadcast live on TV2 and Areena from 1:55 p.m.
