Eemnes commemorates fallen airmen: ‘Talking about the war is actually necessary’

Eemnes commemorates fallen airmen Talking about the war is actually

The Lord’s Prayer is heard softly in English among the more than 200 war graves at Rusthof in Leusden. A small group has just laid flowers at gravestones with the names Rickinson, Bourns, Cairns, Gibbs, Plant and Hathaway. They were together in the Lancaster bomber that was shot down by the Germans near Eemnes on May 13, 1943. Horace Ransome’s name is missing. Because Bill, as he was called, was the only crew member to survive the disaster.
