Eemdijk – As suddenly as last year the first marathon on natural ice presented itself, there seems to be such a great chance that it will happen on Wednesday. “Another night like that and it’s party time,” says Evert Hoolwerf, crowned best marathon skater of the season last winter. While his brother Bart is active on the long track in Calgary, 27-year-old Eemdijker is looking forward to a new performance on Dutch natural ice. “Although it is of course not yet the real thing with tours of 100 kilometers. That’s what we do it all for.”
