Edvin states about the weight: “mentally difficult”

Significantly larger than its competitors • “I thought very much when I was younger”

Edvin Anger, 22, is one of the world’s best skiers – but also stands out on the scale.
He weighs significantly more than its competitors and has during his upbringing often wrestled with the feeling of being different.
– Then I often had a little mentally difficult, says Anger.

Anger has a strong season in the back, with its first World Cup victory in sprint in French Les Rousses in January. He also finished second in total in the World Cup and took the U23 title. In addition, he clinched a World Cup bronze in team sprint together with Oskar Svensson.

During the World Cup in Trondheim, he expressed frustration over conditions and the loose snow:

– It felt like I just shot the snow behind me, that it didn’t respond so well.

Mental struggle around weight

He is significantly larger in the body than his competitors and for TV4 he now tells that it has not always been easy.

– I thought about it a lot when I was younger, then I thought it was hard that I stood out so much. Then I did not want to weigh what I weighed, so that there were eight instead of a nine on the scale, he says and continues:

– Then I often had a little mentally difficult, it is also based that many say “you have to invest in sprint because you will not be able to go distance” and such things sit down. .

Individual balance

The ideal weight is 95 kilos for Anger during the season, he goes down to 94 so he becomes a good distance rider, but the sprint skiing becomes suffering. But less than that he does not want to weigh.

– If I go down to 93, I get tough in the starts, and am not good at all, there is no power or action.
