Edvin Anger has barely canceled any competition this season.
While everyone else is investing in training for the World Cup, he goes against the current.
– I don’t think I’m getting worse off competing weekend for weekend, he tells SVT Sport.
He is second in the overall World Cup thanks to his almost spotless presence during the competition weekends. Edvin Anger22, likes to compete. It is obvious. During a season when many competitors stand over competitions to train himself, he has chosen a different path.
Edvin Anger does not miss a competition
The Swede is one of the few who actually stands on the starting line week after week. This season is obviously characterized by the World Cup in Trondheim (February 26-March 9) and most riders stand over some competition weekends to train on their own instead. Edvin Anger does not belong to that crowd.
– I think it’s a shame that not all athletes are here and drive. It is still so far to the World Cup and there is time to train, he told SVT Sport for the World Cup weekend in Italian cogne.

SVT asks the Hedemora son if he thinks it has become the norm to train more and compete less in front of major championships.
– A little, maybe. I think I manage not to take every World Cup weekend so seriously and still practice a lot even during the weeks, while many may rest one-two days a week if they compete on the weekend. I rest very rarely but keep going and exercise a lot and dare to think long term even in the World Cup. For me, it doesn’t matter: it’s not now I should be the best, but in two or three years, he says and continues:
– I don’t think I’m getting worse off competing weekend for weekend.
Anders Byström’s words about the World Cup
Sweden’s national team manager Anders Byström Understands how Edvin states reason, but he says it is impossible for everyone to compete every weekend during a World Cup season.
– You may have to take it on some World Cups during the season when we get such an extremely good World Cup that it still becomes when everyone tries to top out there and we know that everyone is there. For us, the World Cup is the biggest, he says.
