Edvin Anger’s great irritation towards his own national team – clear criticism after a sudden poke: “I don’t understand”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Edvin Angers is kicked from the World Cup final on Sunday.
And directs clear criticism towards his own national ski team after the decision.
– I don’t understand why, says the 20-year-old to SportExpressen.

The 20-year-old big talent Edwin Anger has had his big breakthrough this season and impressed greatly at the World Cup during the year. The young Swede has taken three fourth places and is still chasing the first international podium of his career.

Anger’s success

Ahead of the World Cup final in Lahtis, Finland, Anger is in eleventh place in the overall standings. The only Swedish men’s rower who is higher up is Calle Halfvarsson and the goal is for the 20-year-old to reach the top 10 in the world.

Which would be an extremely impressive feat in the first senior season at the World Cup. But now the sudden announcement has come that makes that goal more difficult – as Anger is actually being poked at Sunday’s final mass start.

Petas in the national team

The ski national team’s unexpected decision arouses clear irritation in the young successful Swede.
– Well, it’s boring. I have the chance to make the top ten – but I can’t drive on Sunday. And then it becomes more difficult, he tells SportExpressen and admits that he has not received any explanation for the poke.
– Communication has been a little slower at the end. Yes, I have asked. But didn’t get a good answer.

The national ski team’s decision to nominate Anger makes it significantly more difficult for him to reach the top 10 in the overall World Cup. And it feels incredibly sour for the sprint promise from Hedemora.
– They seem to have based the selection for the mass start on the distance race in Falun last weekend. But there I chose the wrong skis, skied on the rough, and was out of luck because of that. But they don’t seem to have taken that into account. And it feels boring, Anger admits in the interview.

The national ski team should probably prioritize even skiers who are so high up in the overall standings. But that will not be the case at all for Edvin Anger, who directs criticism at his own national team.
– Yes, you might think so. But it’s up to them to decide, but I don’t know why they chose this way, he says to the evening newspaper.
