Luleå jaktvårdsklubb is an open hunting club for members who do not own land or belong to any hunting team. Today, the club consists of approximately 580 members who hunt moose and small game on an area of a total of just over 40,000 hectares of land.
The only requirement to join
In addition to municipal land on Hertsön and Kallax, among others, Luleå hunting club has leased land around Norrbotten.
The requirement to participate is that you are registered in the population register in Luleå.
– Even if you don’t have a relative who has hunted in the village team for a hundred years, you have a good opportunity here to hunt elk or small game, says Godecke Blecken, member manager at the club.
More young people and more women
There are eight elk hunting teams within the Luleå hunting management club. And Blecken sees a change in who applies for hunting.
– What’s funny is that interest is increasing among younger people and women, it’s not just old men, laughs Blecken.
In Norrbotten, the moose hunt started on Sunday, September 1. Emma Edberg, who is a member of the club, has been hunting for 12 years and this season she has her 1-year-old son Edvin with her.
– Last year he was also there, but then he mostly slept, says Edberg.
On Tuesday, SVT followed Emma, Edvin and the dog Freja on a trip in Måttsund.
