Eduiren: over 300 initiatives and 54,000 students and citizens involved in one year

Eduiren over 300 initiatives and 54000 students and citizens involved

(Finance) – More than 54,000 citizens met, 231 events held in the Group’s offices and plants, almost 100 projects developed: these, in summary, are the numbers of the initiatives carried out by Eduiren, the educational sector of the Iren Group dedicated to spreading the culture of sustainability and innovation at 360 degrees and for everyone, during the school year that has just ended. The 54 thousand people involved between September 2022 and June 2023 they bring together 48,000 students and 6,000 teachers and citizens: a number that best describes Eduiren’s goal of interacting directly with schools, a target that is now consolidated in the Group’s activities, but also with many other subjects in the territory, from teachers, to local authorities, to associations, through their own training offers and the design of shared awareness-raising paths on the issues of sustainability and ecological transition.

Strategic interlocutor of Eduiren’s activity – Iren informs in a note – remains the school system: the “Direction 2030” catalog was in fact dedicated to the latter, which saw a positive response, both for the workshops aimed at schools of all levels, and for the training offer dedicated to teachers.

At the center of educational proposal, in addition to the themes of active citizenship and education for sustainability, there is the organization of visits to Iren Group plants, the strength of the company and places of transparent information: real classrooms to learn and reflect, with dedicated spaces and materials, up to becoming artistic residences for young people, as in the case of the Spazio Goccia in the municipality of Luzzara. In all, they have been organisedand 231 openings, which have allowed students and citizens to see up close how their waste is transformed, where the electricity they use in homes comes from or learn how the water cycle works in the place where they live.

I am a hundred training projects in which Eduiren has participated, both in Italy and abroad, thus enriching its network of collaborations, and becoming a hub of sustainability and experimentation with new languages: this is demonstrated by the activities for the public carried out during the construction site of the new FORSU plant in Reggio Emilia, at the Science Festival in Genoa, at the ‘International Kids Festival of Reggio Emilia, at the Turin International Book Fair and at Terra Madre.

Two special projectssuch as those developed with Geopop And Giffoni Innovation Hub, they then made it possible to implement new communication tools. Among all we must mention the video made with Geopop inside the Turin waste-to-energy plant and which consolidates the collaboration with the popularizer Andrea Moccia after the success of the first video, “Che fine fa l’organico”, which recorded over 2,300 thousand views, and the short film “Chiara come l’acqua” presented at the eighth edition of the Giffoni Next Generation review and which focuses on the protection of water resources.

Finally, the company reports the ppresence of Eduiren within international projects: MAISPEMBA, an initiative aimed at promoting the integrated urban development of the city of Pemba, in Mozambique, through partnerships and exchanges of good practices and Multipliers, a project financed under the Horizon 2020 programme, which intends to address the environmental problems of the third millennium, bringing innovative projects in schools and experimenting with new training approaches for open and inclusive learning, with a direct impact on citizens’ lifestyles.
