The municipal services of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) received this Wednesday a hit socket and a letter of death threats, contained in an envelope intended for Edouard Philippe, the mayor of the city.
The mayor of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime), Edouard Philippe (Horizons) received a letter of “death threats” this Wednesday, March 19, 2025 with a hood stored inside, the prosecution said in a statement. It was the staff of the city of Le Havre who received the envelope, sent to the police. The socket was worn out, “struck”, according to the prosecutor of Le Havre, Soizic Guillaume, confirming information from Ouest-France.
Candidate declared in the 2027 presidential election, the mayor of the city “filed a complaint, as he does each time he receives a threat letter”,specifies the communication department of the town hall with our colleagues.An investigation was opened by the head of “threat of death or damage to dangerous goods for people against an elected public,” said the prosecution. The Interdepartmental Directorate of the National Police (DIPN) has been seized.
A first letter with the inscription “Allah-Akbar”
This is not the first time that the ex-Prime Minister has been targeted by this kind of threats. Two years ago, a letter intended for Edouard Philippe and comprising the inscription “Allah-Akbar” (God is the largest, editor’s note) with inside the whitish powder had also been sent to the town hall of Le Havre. Again, the councilor had filed a complaint.
The letter received this Wednesday by the municipal agents of the Havre town hall would be “in connection with the announced will of Edouard Philippe to present himself to the next presidential election”, (in 2027, editor’s note), specifies this Friday in a statement Soizic Guillaume, the prosecutor of the Republic of Le Havre.
