Microsoft has unveiled a new feature on Edge Canary, the latest experimental version of its web browser, aimed at testers. This feature allows browser extensions to be paused when browsing sensitive sites, such as online banking. Indeed, an extension could recover confidential information, which is not desirable.
Microsoft has therefore provided an option in the browser settings that will automatically pause extensions when you browse a sensitive site (click on the image below to enlarge it).
On the other hand, it is not possible to specify specific sites, nor to define which extensions will be paused. This option works on the all or nothing principle and Microsoft is responsible for identifying the sites concerned.
However, the publisher has provided the possibility of pausing the extensions manually. All you have to do is click on the extensions icon, in the shape of a puzzle piece, then on the menu of the three small dots (click on the image below to enlarge it).
The browser then indicates that the extensions are paused and it is then possible to reactivate using the same method, or by clicking on a button in the menu that makes the inventory.

Microsoft has not yet indicated when this new function will be available. In the meantime, the publisher has announced a modification in the management of tabs on standby which makes it possible to consume even less processor resources and thus save battery power. This change is implemented in version 100 of the browser, which is currently available.
