Eddie Murphy delivers sequel update and confirms film about fan

Eddie Murphy is currently promoting his action comedy Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F., which will be released on Netflix on July 3. He also took the opportunity to reveal something sensational from the Shrek franchise price that will make die-hard fans both short and long ears prick up.

Shrek 5 is coming sooner than ogre and donkey fans could imagine

Murphy, who voices Shrek’s four-legged friend Donkey in the original English version of DreamWorks’ animated films, told Collider in an interview:

We have started with Shrek 4 or 5 months ago. I did it, I recorded the first act, and we’ll do the rest this year, then we’ll finish it.

But the sequel Shrek 5, which was to be released in 2025it doesn’t stop there. The Hollywood star, who is also known as the voice of the mini-dragon Mushu from Mulan, confirmed another project:

Shrek comes out, and donkey will have his own movie. We’re also making one with a donkey. First we’ll make Shrek, and then a donkey film.

After five Shrek films and two spin-offs about Puss in Boots, the ogre’s dragon and waffle-loving donkey sidekick is now set to get his own film. Two more films could $755 million fantasy franchise then even catapult over the billion mark at the box office.

It is currently unknown who will be responsible for the Donkey film. What we do know about the Shrek sequel is that the English-speaking main cast, including Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz, will return.

Where can you stream the Shrek movies?

The first two Shrek films are only available to rent or buy from Amazon, Apple TV, etc. Part 3 is also available on JOYN Plus+ in the flat rate, part 4 on Sky Go and WOW – as are the two Puss in Boots films.
