ECHR condemns Turkey for excessive pre trial detention of journalist

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on Tuesday June 20 sentenced Turkey to a fine of 18,000 euros. The ruling followed a complaint by the former head of a media group who is currently serving a life sentence. The Court condemned the “excessive” length of his pre-trial detention. A condemnation which is added to the numerous requests and judgments against Turkey.
