(Finance) – The member of the board of directors of European Central BankFrancois Villeroy de Galhau, outlined the institute’s program to bring inflation back to 2%. During a conference in Paris Villeroy declared that the ECB will probably raise interest rates to the maximum level within September and then keep them at that level until at least next year to ensure that inflation returns to the 2% target.
‘It is our duty to remember that the battle againstinflation it will only be won through perseverance, keeping interest rates high as long as necessary – explained Villeroy – We must be careful not to declare victory too quickly”.
