ECB PEPP net weekly purchases at E 133 billion

(Finance) – In the week to 11 February 2022, with the PEPP program, the ECB took over € 13.6 billion worth of securities, down from € 17.2 billion the week before, while € 0.3 billion of maturing debt was repaid. The net purchases are therefore equal to 13.3 billion, down compared to 16.5 billion for the week as of January 28th. Since the anti-pandemic purchase plan was launched in March 2020, the cumulative stock has reached € 1,658.5 billion. These are some of the data contained in the weekly budget report of the European Central Bank.

With the program of purchases of government securities, which existed before the crisis and whose cumulative amounted to € 2,512 billion, the ECB bought another 4.6 billion of securities. In this case, against repayments of 0 billion euros, the amount of net purchases is positive for 4.6 billion. The Eurosystem also acquired 1.1 billion guaranteed bonds and 2.3 billion private sector bonds. In total, the number of securities purchases reached in the week to February 11, 2022 was € 21.8 billion, compared with € 25.5 billion the previous week.
