For a month, there has been a storm in the Christian Democrats after MEP Sara Skyttedal reported the then party secretary Johan Ingerö to the police for sexual harassment. Now party leader Ebba Busch is speaking out about the situation. It must have been during an after party nine years ago that Johan Ingerö made unwelcome sexual advances towards Sara Skyttedal. After the police report, Johan Ingarö left his duties with immediate effect. He also denies the accusations. Ebba Busch has previously commented on Ingerö’s departure. – I judge that we need to have a party secretary who does not have external communication as a primary strength. But now that we are five months into the mandate period, it is established that I need to take responsibility for ensuring that we have a party secretary who primarily builds organization. And for that I judge that we need another person in the post, she said during a press conference. Today, however, she does not want to be known as having judged Johan Ingerö as an unsuitable party secretary. – I only have good words to say about Johan Ingerö, but my task is to see how we get an impact for the reforms, proposals we went to the polls on, she says live from KD’s party congress in Örebro. After the situation with Skyttedal and Ingerö, Ebba Busch’s leadership has been questioned and some voices do not believe that she will remain in the next election campaign. Busch isn’t worried, though. – I have had the privilege of being party leader for eight years now and I feel that I have many, many more years in me. I am very happy about the support I feel in the party, she says. Further criticism Another thing that Ebba Busch, who is the energy minister, has received criticism for is that the electricity support could not be delivered as promised during the election campaign. – I think that the vast majority of Swedes actually did not expect that, in such a serious situation as we have taken over Sweden in, all of that would be able to be turned around in a hundred days. We never promised that either, she says.
