Ebba Andersson has had her best season in her career.
Now the Swedish WC queen opens up about the success and the constant comparisons with Therese Johaug.
– It is of course full of honor to be compared to one of the greatest of all time, but…, says the Swede to SportExpressen.

Before this ski season had Ebba Andersson “only” won two individual WC bronzes and a single victory at the World Cup during his career. A year later, the 25-year-old can look back on her very best season to date.

Ebba’s big hit

Ebba made a big impression at the World Cup and won four World Cup races during the year. It would then get even better during the 2023 World Ski Championships in Planica when she hit the big mark perfectly and exceeded all expectations.

Andersson was crowned WC queen after double WC gold and double WC bronze in Slovenia and finally got to show her full capacity as a skier. Then the Swede ended the season in the best way by also winning SM gold recently.

The words about Johaug

Now the ski season is officially over and Ebba Andersson can look back on the year that has been with immense pride. But of course her success has come with comparisons and words about the Norwegian ski queen Therese Johaug who left behind a vacant throne.
– What I do know is that the season I’ve had now is the best I’ve ever had. Of course, if you have to be like that, the Russians are missing and Therese Johaug is missing, says Ebba in an interview with SportExpressen and opens up about the Norwegian giant.
– It is of course full of honor to be compared to one of the greatest of all time, but will I ever become the individual Therese was and is? No, so from that perspective it’s tiring.

The next big championship is the Ski World Cup in Trondheim in two years and there are rumors of a sensational comeback for Johaug, who is currently pregnant and expecting her first child. Then the Swedish skiing star comes with highly unexpected words about the Norwegian.
– I would have liked to have Therese back. All the years I’ve been with them, they’ve targeted Therese and hunted her. Sure, you’ve hit her at some point but never really felt like you took her for granted. So to keep chasing her a bit and see if you can catch her, she admits to the evening newspaper.
