2023 has been a great success for Ebba Andersson.
Now she comes with a most unexpected confession.
– It’s easier said than done, I have to admit that, she says to Svenska Dagbladet.
The year 2023 has been absolutely fantastic for the Swedish skiing star Ebba Andersson. When many wondered who would take over after Charlotte Kalla in the national ski team and Therese Johaug in the skiing world, the 26-year-old stepped forward.
Ebba’s success WC
During the ski WC in Planica, Andersson topped her form in the best way and was crowned WC queen after double gold and double bronze medals. She deservedly took over the vacant throne as the world’s best skier on the women’s side.

The new ski season has also gotten off to a flying start for Ebba and the Swedish national ski team, who have lined up podium places. Recently, they also won the women’s relay for the first time in 14 years in the World Cup.
– We were most intent on breaking the relay curse. We were made aware that it had been exactly 14 years since the last first time at the warm-up. We have been tipped as favorites in relays several times, but when it comes down to it, it has been a lot of pole out, says Ebba Andersson to Svenska Dagbladet.
Andersson’s goal
After the successful start to the season now comes an unexpected recognition from the Swedish skiing star. Because it is not the overall World Cup that the 26-year-old is focusing on this winter – she instead has another main goal.
– It’s the Tour de ski I’m aiming for the most. Should it turn out that I am in contention for the overall World Cup, I will of course try to take it home as well, but in that case I will have to take it along the way, she says in the interview.

Namely, it is the sprint part that is Ebba Andersson’s weakness at the World Cup. Which she herself is very aware of and takes with her as a lesson from last season, but the Swede has also learned an important lesson about herself.
– In addition to knowing that I have to improve in sprints, it has also been important for me to follow my plan and believe in myself. I really got that last season and it has been the key to the success that came later at the WC in Planica, she says to the daily newspaper.
– It’s easier said than done, I have to admit that, but then of course it makes it easier to get confirmation that things are going in the direction you want. You have to try to take care of yourself, focus on what I can influence. Trust that what I do is enough. Many times before I have wrestled with it, that it is not good enough.
