Ebba Andersson’s first words after the big disappointment – now opens up about the strong feelings: “Failed”

Ebba Andersson was forced to cancel the Tour de Ski prematurely.
Now the Swedish skiing star is full of revenge for the new year.
– The Tour de Ski was this season’s big goal and so it was a failure, says the Swede in “Efter fem”.

As neither the World Ski Championships nor the Winter Olympics are taking place this year, the Tour de Ski was the big highlight of the season for the cross-country skiers. Before the mini tour was pointed Ebba Andersson out as a pre-favourite for overall victory together with his teammate Frida Karlsson and the American Jessie Diggins.

Ebba’s disappointment

The latter would prove to be able to live up to expectations best when Diggins was convincing and won the Tour de Ski without much competition. Karlsson finished in fourth place and for Andersson it was a real disappointment.

She was affected by covid just before the start of the competition and her body never managed to recover. Ebba was forced to cancel the mini-tour and go home early due to the sequelae of the illness, it was not what she had been looking forward to.

Andersson’s words

A week has passed since then and now the Swedish skiing star opens up about how difficult it was to be forced to give up the season’s big highlight.
– It was tough. It was tough to make the decision to go home and then tough to come home and take care of the body and bud which was quite sore. Tour de Ski was this season’s big goal and so it was a failure, says Ebba Andersson in the TV4 program “Efter fem”.

So far, there have been two World Cup victories this season and now a healthy Andersson is looking forward to the rest of the World Cup season. She is aiming for big revenge after the disappointment in the Tour de Ski.
– The season continues and I have just finished a training session. I myself feel that I want to take revenge in the second half of the season. I had a great start but in between there was a bump in the road. But it is a championship-free year, so it will be a good opportunity to gather as much lessons and experience before the championship year 2025, she says to the television program.
