Ebba Andersson’s absolutely wonderful answer to the skiing world after the WC success – and the words about Johaug: “I counter with…”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Ebba Andersson became a great WC queen.
Afterwards, she came up with the perfect answer – after being compared to Therese Johaug.
– I counter!, she says.

Before the ski WC, most of the talk was about Frida Karlsson. The Swede won the Tour de Ski just a month or so ago, but during the winter Ebba Andersson has also shown super form and has been responsible for several impressive efforts in the World Cup.

Big WC queen

And Ebba would eventually become the great WC queen in Planica. She went home with four medals, two of which were gold, and she was at times completely superior during the competitions. Andersson put on a show in the skiathlon, when she could even afford to fall and still come more than 20 seconds ahead of the runner-up, and this weekend saw a further demonstration of power.

Ebba Andersson was radiantly happy over the weekend, when she received her second individual gold medal in her career.

– It feels absolutely incredible, if you’ve succeeded twice, it’s no longer a coincidence. This gold is just as nice as the first, it feels good that the first got a winner, says Ebba Andersson to SVT.

Wonderful answer

Ebba Andersson also took the opportunity to fight back against those who called her performance “Johaug class” – with a wonderful joke.

– Then I get countered that it’s Ebba class, says the star.

Ebba Andersson’s WC becomes even more impressive given that her upload was seriously disrupted by her falling ill with covid-19 – which led to her having to sit out the Tour de Ski.

– When I got sick, it was first and foremost about getting well. Then we laid out a plan going forward where the WC was the goal, but it was hard to believe that it would turn out like this, says Andersson.
