Ebba Andersson takes home the gold in the three mile

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

On Saturday, the Swedish women’s cross-country skiers tied the world championship in Planica through the classic three-mile.

Frida Karlsson, Ebba Andersson, Emma Ribom and Linn Svahn were the quartet in the Swedish team that would try to win more medals on the penultimate day of the competition.

It has so far been a successful championship where Sweden has three golds and nine medals before Saturday, which means that Sweden can become the best nation on the women’s side when the competition is summed up.

Ebba Andersson gained a substantial lead early on and with five kilometers to go had a lead of over a minute down to the chasing quintet consisting of the Swedes Frida Karlsson, Linn Svahn, the Norwegian Anne Kjersti Kalvå, the Finnish Kerttu Niskanen and the American Rosie Brennan.

The 25-year-old continued to press on and took home the gold in superior style. The gold means Sweden’s fourth during the championship in Planica. Frida Karlsson won the bronze medal behind the Norwegian Anne Kjersti Kalvå.
