Ebba Andersson, 27, has a couple of years left at the elite level.
But she has already started thinking about what she wants to do the day she ends her active skiing career.
– I’m pretty sure that I want to do something completely different than something connected to sports, she says to Sportbibeln.
With three WC gold medals, two Olympic medals and several World Cup victories Ebba Andersson27, one of Sweden’s and the world’s most successful cross-country skiers right now. Last year she also won the Jerring prize after her double WC gold in Planica 2023.
Ebba Andersson’s future plans
Ebba broke through in the A national team already as a 19-year-old, so she has had just over eight seasons as an elite skater. She will probably continue to compete at the highest level for years, but one day her career will be over. The question is what will she come up with then?

Unlike many other ex-athletes, she does not see herself as a future coach or TV expert. She doesn’t even think she wants to stay involved in skiing after she retires. Instead, she intends to let another interest get more space, also in her professional life.
– Then I would have liked to work with something that included cooking. I still say it with some thought because I don’t know what I will want to do when I put my skis on. I’m pretty sure that I want to do something completely different than something connected to sports, she says to Sportbibeln.

An interest since childhood
Quite a few people know that she has a burning interest in food. Among other things, she has appeared in the podcast “Recipe thanks!”, where she talked about her passion for cooking. She therefore thinks that that passion could lead to a future career choice, when her time as a world star is over.
– Then I think that food is still an interest, so something that is close at hand there. We’ll see, she says.

When Ebba was 22 years old and had just moved to Östersund, she did an interview with Länstidningen Östersund about her hobby.
– Those who follow me have probably realized that my interest in food is quite large. Firstly, I love food and I think it’s great fun to spend time in the kitchen when the opportunity exists. It is of great interest to me. It’s fitting because it’s such an important part for me as a skier too. It goes hand in hand if you think about the elite sport that I am involved in, she said then.
– Now that I live by myself, I get to rule completely. It could be anything. I think the funnest thing is when you see what I have at home, what is in the fridge, freezer, pantry: what can I cook from this? There will be a lot of improvisation.
Beautiful Ebba! It will be exciting to see what you do in life, but first we want to see you skiing at world level for a couple more years. Good luck with the World Cup and WC in the future.
