Ebba Andersson hooked up with Frida Karlsson in the final stage of the World Cup five mile and fell to the ground.
At the same time, she lost a medal.
Now she tells how she feels and what she told Karlsson after the race.
– I am pissed over the situation and how it became, she tells the Norwegian site langrenn.com.
She had already taken three golds during the World Cup in Trondheim and was craving more. It also looked very good for Ebba Andersson27, in the final five mile. She went a match against Frida Karlsson; 25, Therese Johaug36, and Heidi Weng33, but fell on the goal line.
Ebba’s words about the conversation with Frida
When only a few kilometers remained to the goal, Ebba in Frida’s skiing hooked and she fell to the ground. Every now and then, her medal jump died. She came in as four in goal and was noticeably angry and disappointed immediately after the finish.
– This is something that can happen in the heat of the moment, but it is sad that I am in the snow and that it is Frida who goes in goal as a world champion instead. I thought I would go right, because with the conditions we had today we saw that it really paid off to go on the edges. Unfortunately, Frida had thought the same thing, and I went on the slopes as a consequence of that, Ebba tells the Norwegian site Langrenn.com.

She also reveals that she and Frida had a call shortly thereafter. She does not want to blame her national teammate, but it is obvious that she is still very angry about what happened.
– I’m pissed on the situation and how it became. I can’t blame her or myself. But it’s so sad that it ended like this, she says.
The question Ebba Andersson has a hard time answering
The Norwegian site then asks a very sensitive question that Ebba seems to have a little trouble answering. They wonder briefly if she can be pleased that Frida Karlsson wins a World Cup gold?
– Hmmm. I have been clear and told Frida that I am glad that it was she who managed to win when I did not get the chance to join and fight for it. But I have also been clear that I am disappointed with how the outcome became for me, she replies.

She says that the worst is that she has spent so much time on preparation and training and that it actually went well in the race, she felt the smell of a medal, but then everything changes within a second. Then the dream dies right away. Suddenly, her three previous World Cup golds (skiathlon, 10 km classic and relay) no longer played any role.
It’s so sad that it ended like this for you in the World Cup, Ebba! Especially considering how good things went for you before – and that you were so close to taking a medal even in the five -mile. We’re suffering with you.
You still did something fantastic during the World Cup in Norway. We hope this does not take the feeling that you did something incredible in Trondheim. We’re proud of you.
