Ebba Andersson reveals her rival’s nice words – approached the Swede after the finish line: “She thanked me for…”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

First, she won the 10 kilometer race by far.
Ebba Andersson was then thanked by her rival.
– She seems to have appreciated it, says Ebba.

Ebba Andersson had not competed for almost two months. A positive covid test at the beginning of December forced her to take an involuntary training break, and although she showed good form in the Scandinavian Cup, there were question marks about her form against the world’s very best, with only weeks to go until the WC.

Incomparable comeback

But Ebba Andersson didn’t need very long to prove that she is still in absolutely brilliant shape. She started the 10 kilometer race in Les Rousses strongly, and the distance only increased. Andersson won in his comeback in the World Cup – and with a clear name.

The distance to the French Delphine Claudel at the finish line was a full 13 seconds, and Andersson proved that she will be counted on once the WC starts, on February 22. Ebba Andersson spoke warmly after the competition about how good her body felt, but also about the audience. The French audience shouted for Ebba Andersson during the competition, but she also had some help.

Nice thanks from the opponent

Behind Andersson was just Claudel, who was second, and afterwards Ebba was thanked by Claudel for how she kept up the pace, which gave the French a perfect back to lie behind.

– She seems to have appreciated it because she came and thanked for the traction. It was noticeable that the podium place meant a lot to her, Andersson tells Aftonbladet.

But it was mutual. Thanks to Andersson being able to have Claudel at her back, she was really cheered on by the wild, French audience.

– It was a great experience to go there with Claudel in the back because the French audience was very enthusiastic and engaged, she says.

Sweden only came to the start with three riders, despite the fact that there were a total of seven places available. Moa Lundgren, who leads the Scandinavian Cup, with 22nd, and Elina Rönnlund was 28th.
