The Swedish national ski team is at a training camp in Livigno.
But the WC queen Ebba Andersson is completely missing.
Now the Swedish skiing star reveals why.
Last year left Frida Karlsson, Maja Dahlqvist and Lynn Svahn the Swedish national ski team to train on their own. The conflict was then resolved until this pre-season, the national team leadership has listened to the skaters’ demands to return.
Ebba’s explanation
One of the requirements was to train more at high altitude, and therefore the Swedish national ski team is currently in Livigno, Italy, for a training camp. Karlsson and Svahn were also the first to arrive and have already completed two weeks of high-altitude training.

Now the rest of the national ski team has joined, but there is a name that is missing. Ebba Andersson goes against his teammates and has chosen to stay at home in Sweden and attend the national team’s training camp.
– No, I will not go down. It would cost more than it tastes like, says Ebba to SportExpressen.
– This is something that I was crystal clear about with the national team management. Not something I’ve raved about.

Andersson’s words
Andersson is coming off a very successful ski season most recently when she was crowned WC queen in Planica after double WC gold and a total of four medals. Now she explains why she chose Livigno.
– I felt that during the autumn I want to prioritize high altitude in favor of getting in some training with certain specific sessions at home, Andersson says in the interview.
– Then there wasn’t really any room left to pull away at height. And it was a dialogue I had early on with the national team management.

Instead, she will remain at home and train in Östersund and Sollefteå together with her father Per-Ola Andersson. But the 26-year-old is also clear that she may train at high altitude later in the season.
– No, I’m not completely against height at all. The second stage of the Tour de ski, for example, takes place at altitude this winter. So there is a basic plan to lie a little high before then, she tells the evening newspaper.
