It has been a tough season so far for Ebba Andersson.
Now several well-known Norwegians are speaking out about the Swede’s wretched form.
– Ebba has been a shadow of herself throughout the World Cup, says Therese Johaug to VG.
With Frida Karlsson25, injured and out indefinitely and Therese Johaug36, in unclear form after his two-year hiatus left Ebba Andersson27, entered as a big favorite this season. But success really hasn’t happened. She still hasn’t reached a podium in the World Cup – and in the Tour de Ski things don’t look much better.
Ebba Andersson about her own efforts
In Toblach, Italy, she failed to advance from the opening sprint prologue. Then there was a seventh place in the 15 km classic, a 33rd place in the 20 km individual start and an 18th place in Wednesday’s 15 km pursuit start (despite the fact that she had the fourth best ride time). Ebba Andersson doesn’t want that.
– I really don’t understand how I can lose so much time out there. I feel that the body and the skiing are good. I work for every meter. I am quite satisfied with the implementation. Still, it’s going too slowly, she tells Norwegian VG.

She goes on to admit that she is surprised that she is so far behind the other riders. When four of the competition’s seven stages have been decided, she is in 13th place in the overall standings, a full 3.40 minutes behind the leading Norwegian Astrid Öyre Slind. Therese Johaug is in turn in second place, six seconds behind her Norwegian colleague.
Norwegian words about Ebba Andersson
Johaug is just one of many in Norway who reacted strongly to Ebba’s poor form.
– Ebba has been a shadow of herself throughout the World Cup. It’s boring, she says to VG and gets the nod from Helene Marie Fossesholm:
– She went on a different gear than I have seen before. You can speculate on what it is, whether it is the skis or what it is. But she didn’t look as sharp as before.

TV2’s expert Petter Soleng Skinstad think that the Swedish ladies in general have failed completely, but perhaps especially Ebba Andersson.
– It is extremely bad. Total failure I would say for what is the world’s best women’s team. I feel sorry for Ebba when I see her now, because there is so much more to her than she shows. However, she has to rise to a completely different level than what she delivers now, because this is dark. It is not right physically, technically or on the equipment front, he says according to VG.
It hurts to see Ebba like this. You really suffer with her. Do you think she will complete the entire tour? Feel free to write a comment on Sportbibeln’s Facebook page
