Ebba Andersson and Linn Svahn’s tough message after the comeback – reveals the shame: “I’m ashamed of it”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Ebba Andersson and Linn Svahn have returned to the tracks.
But now the skiing stars have been forced to make very tough decisions.
– You are a little ashamed of that, Svahn admits to Dagens Nyheter.

Both Ebba Andersson and Lynn Svahn has returned to the World Cup again and showed great form straight away. Ebba missed two months of competition due to covid-19 but made a comeback this weekend and delivered double World Cup wins straight away.

Svahn nobs…

While Linn largely missed two years due to massive injury problems, he returned last weekend for the World Cup and impressed straight away in the sprint. Now Svahn is also ready for the next World Cup weekend in Toblach, and then most things say that the Swede will also get a ticket to the upcoming Ski World Cup.

Unfortunately, it will be at the expense of the ski championships, which are decided in Skövde between January 31 and February 5. Therefore, Linn Svahn is forced to make a tough decision and skip the SM completely, which still hurts her.
– I had a thought about the SM and then staying at home, but my priority is to win these tough World Cup races. After all, there are those who go home from here to the SM and they should have all the praise. It’s backbone. It should be an obvious option to compete at the SM, but we are egoists and choose what is optimal to be able to perform later. But then Swedish skiing gets in trouble, and you’re a little ashamed of that, says the 23-year-old in an interview with DN.

…and also Ebba

There will also be no Ebba Andersson during the SM week. She also prioritizes the WC upload before the competitions in Skövde.
– Unfortunately, there will be no SM. It was not an easy decision, but considering how the competition program looks like in the World Cup and what awaits in the WC, which is the big goal, it was not optimal to also squeeze in SC competitions, she tells the daily newspaper.

The 25-year-old admits that there are no problems or disappointment between her and the club Piteå Elit SK, although she herself has feelings of guilt.
– A certain ounce of bad conscience, absolutely. But in the end, it’s still for yourself that you ski, and then it’s important to optimize the route in front of the big goals you have in front of you. It was difficult this time. It’s obviously a shame because it’s a competitive opportunity that we want to take advantage of, to be able to wear a club uniform and compete on home ground, says Ebba in the interview.
