00:23 – Eric Ciotti almost doubled his number of votes
Compared to the 2022 election, Eric Ciotti received 9,000 more votes in the first round of the legislative elections. The outgoing MP saw 20,809 ballots in his name being placed in the ballot boxes, compared to 11,271 in the first round two years ago. This is his second best total after the 2nd round of 2012, where he had 25,473 votes in his favor.
00:16 – 41.04% for Eric Ciotti
The results are finally known for the 1st constituency of the Alpes-Maritimes! Eric Ciotti, president of the Republicans and representative of the LR-RN alliance in this territory, obtained 41.04% of the votes and advanced to the 2nd round. He will challenge Olivier Salerno of the New Popular Front (26.62%) and Graig Monetti of the presidential coalition Ensemble (22.79%). Eric Ciotti will therefore have to do well in this triangular where, despite his lead, a surprise cannot perhaps be ruled out.
06/30/24 – 9:15 p.m. – “The situation is serious tonight” reacts Eric Ciotti
In a speech broadcast live on BFM TV, Eric Ciotti reacted to the results of the first round of these legislative elections, denouncing “certain shameful compromises which are already taking shape.” According to the one who signed an alliance with the National Rally, “democracy and our institutions could be in danger if the far left seized power.” He thus called, unsurprisingly, to vote for the party chaired by Jordan Bardella.
06/30/24 – 9:01 p.m. – Still no estimates for Eric Ciotti
At this time, the Ministry of the Interior has not yet communicated any figures regarding the counting in the 1st constituency of the Alpes-Maritimes, territory where Eric Ciotti is seeking a new mandate as deputy. It must be said that it corresponds to a part of the city of Nice where the polling stations closed at 8 p.m.
06/30/24 – 8:24 p.m. – For the Republicans, a result as weak as in 2022
The Republicans are not doing any better. Compared to 2022, the right-wing party received the same proportion of votes cast (based on the first results). LR had obtained 10.55% of the votes in the first round and is currently given around 10%. However, the party is split in two between pro-Ciotti candidates and anti-Ciotti candidates, after Eric Ciotti’s alliance with the RN.
06/30/24 – 8:04 p.m. – 10% of the votes for Les Républicains
The Republicans are credited with 10% of the votes, nationally, according to the first national estimates. At this stage, the local results are not known and it is impossible to differentiate between the votes linked to the LR candidates supported by Eric Ciotti and those cast by the general staff of the party which opposed Eric Ciotti.
06/30/24 – 7:45 p.m. – Eric Ciotti.. facing an LR candidate
An incredible scenario in the Alpes-Maritimes, which is sure to lose voters. Two LR candidates are running in the department’s 1st constituency: Eric Ciotti, elected since 2007, and Virgile Vanier, an entrepreneur who is previously unknown to the local political world. Since the LR general staff opposed Eric Ciotti’s decision to join the RN, the right-wing party’s investiture committee gave its blessing to the forty-year-old, who was revolted by the alliance formed by the outgoing MP with the far right. On a terrain already favourable to the right, where Eric Ciotti had only re-enlisted thanks to the 4,000 additional votes obtained (out of 33,000) in the 2nd round in 2022, voters will have a choice: the historic LR Ciotti, the unknown LR Vanier or the Macronist who came close to becoming MP two years ago, Craig Monetti.
06/30/24 – 7:24 p.m. – Since when has Éric Ciotti been a deputy for the Alpes-Maritimes?
Éric Ciotti was elected four times deputy in the 1st constituency of Alpes-Maritimes. His first election dates back to 2007. Born in Nice, the boss of LR is very established in his territory, he was briefly deputy to mayor Christian Estrosi, then general councilor of the Alpes-Maritimes.
06/30/24 – 7:03 p.m. – Justice rejects a third attempt to exclude Ciotti from LR
The Paris judicial court on Thursday rejected a request signed by 703 members of the national council of the Republicans aimed at forcing Éric Ciotti to convene a political bureau with a view to his exclusion. The request was declared inadmissible on the grounds “that this number in reality includes very many unsigned letters (and) that no verification of the payment of contributions by the signatories was carried out”. Éric Ciotti therefore remains president of LR.
06/30/24 – 6:30 p.m. – A legislative campaign against the backdrop of a quarrel in LR
From June 12 and Eric Ciotti’s announcement of an alliance with the RN in the legislative elections, a political office of the party was convened and voted to exclude the boss. But Éric Ciotti decided to ignore this decision and even challenge it in court. The campaign therefore took place in the middle of legal uncertainty: each branch of LR presented its candidates, who found themselves opposed in several constituencies. Éric Ciotti “obviously created a disastrous climate for our candidates in the campaign and sent instructions to the banks to block the functioning of the party”, tells Emmanuelle Mignon, vice-president of LR, to Les Echos.
06/30/24 – 6:02 p.m. – Eric Ciotti targeted by an investigation for embezzlement of public funds
In the middle of the legislative campaign, Franceinfo revealed that Éric Ciotti was the subject of a new investigation for embezzlement of public funds. The investigation, opened on May 30, concerns possible irregularities during his 2022 legislative campaign, according to Franceinfo. The Nice public prosecutor’s office received a report from the Anticor association, concerning the misuse of parking cards from the port of Nice made available free of charge by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for relatives of Eric Ciotti. “It’s yet another stink ball thrown by a competing candidate, who lost the elections in 2022 and who is now the Anticor local correspondent,” responded Eric Ciotti’s campaign director on June 17. In January, another preliminary investigation for embezzlement of public funds was opened due to suspicions of multiple jobs at the Alpes-Maritimes departmental council, which may have benefited Eric Ciotti.
An important chapter for the Les Républicains party is being written this Sunday in the 1st constituency of the Alpes-Maritimes. Éric Ciotti, outgoing MP for Nice, is running for re-election. After his explosive decision to ally with the National Rally for the 2024 legislative elections, his result seems to show that his voters approved/disapproved of his choice, which caused the split in his party. According to the first partial results published by the Ministry of the Interior, the president of the LR party obtained 41.04% of the votes in his constituency, ahead of/behind the New Popular Front (XX%). More importantly, Eric Ciotti is ahead of/losing to Virgile Vanier, LR candidate who represents the branch of the party that opposes any agreement with the RN.
What are the results in Eric Ciotti’s constituency?

The latest election results for the Nice constituency were already rather favorable to Éric Ciotti: the outgoing MP was elected with 56.33% of the vote in the second round of the 2022 legislative elections, against the Macronist candidate Graig Monetti. In the 2024 European elections, the RN came out on top with 29.93% of the vote, far ahead of the presidential majority list, which only received 13.34%. The left-wing parties, now united in the New Popular Front, together obtained 29.41% of the vote on June 9.
