Easter food has become so much more expensive – see the list

By packing a box with around twenty goods that are usually popular around Easter, the Chamber of Commerce has produced its own “basket” of goods and can thus make historical price comparisons.

The compilation shows that a classic Easter table costs just over SEK 630 this year – an increase of 40 percent in five years.

– It is more than food prices have increased in general and definitely more than inflation, says Carl Berkgvist, chief economist at the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.

Compared to last year, the price of eggs has increased by 11.6 percent. But the salmon and herring have also run away. Carl Bergkvist’s tip for those who want to keep costs down is above all to consider vegetarian options.

– But if you really want protein, then I would look at chicken, which holds up very well in terms of price.
